Right Honourable Boris Johnson MP,

n

Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth affairs of the United Kingdom,

n

n

Dear Sir

n

It is a pleasure and privilege to meet you in Cyprus.

n

We, as the Turkish Cypriot Businessmenu2019s Association, believe that Your visit coincides with the very critical moment in the current negotiations; at the very u201cmake or break point!u201d to say the very least.u00a0 At this point in time, we request your active support as you have declared to the Cypriot Turkish Press that u201cthe UK fully supports the current settlement process and stands ready to help in any way it can in order to bring lasting peace to Cyprus.u201d

n

It is our wish and intent to contribute to this process and make it known to all as to how the business community sees it from its own perspective:

n

    n

  1. We understand that the current process should consider a fair balance of u201cgive and takeu201d and an understanding that in exchange for return of reasonable territory we must receive political equality and consolidate our reasonable share in the state.u00a0 However, it is unreasonable to have a final deal on territorial issues in exchange to political equality and a share in the state without all the other important matters settled.
  2. n

n

    n

  1. Regarding security and guarantees; Because of past events, we understand and fully appreciate that each community must feel extremely secure in their own homeland.u00a0 We are afraid without sufficient guarantees from Turkey; our people do not feel comfortable.u00a0 We must too take into consideration the fears of our compatriots and devise an acceptable formula for this purpose.
  2. n

n

    n

  1. For the sake of the momentum achieved to date, it is our suggestion that all signatory sides to ROC agreements should sit around the table soonest and encourage both leaders for the final deal as they rightly need help and encouragement u2013 as that which was achieved in London and Zurich.
  2. n

n

ISAD strongly believes that during the last 50 years everything have been discussed, and, without the participation of the 5 parties, it is not possible to arrive at the final deal that will satisfy majority of the Cypriot People on both sides of the divide.

n

n

Yours Sincerely

n

For and Behalf of the Board
